Topics I've Started

  1. Resigned from Fatality, Resuming the Hunt for a Clan

    Posted 22 Oct 2009

I've decided to resign from Fatality. It wasn't for me, and wasn't really going anywhere. :|

So, I'm clanless again. I'll be looking around for something more established, someone who's recruiting.

I'd still like any offers I can get, though.

Here's hoping I find my place. Here's hoping.
  2. Rookie Rusher Looking for Advice

    Posted 19 Oct 2009

I'm a rusher. It's what I seem to be best at.

I'm a generally okay medic and a lousy sniper. I'm not a good defender, and I'm a horrible camper.

That said, I'm looking for any advice I can get on how to be a good rusher.

What equipment should I use, and when? I'm unsure about what's best.
The same goes for weapons. I mainly use the M4, but I'm curious about whether another weapon is better.

Should I use a silencer or a laser?
Are tactical goggles a good idea?
Is kevlar/helmet really necessary, or should I use those slots differently?
    Is extra ammo worth it?

Also, what would be some good training methods? I know that pistols/semi-auto are good methods, but what else works well?
I'm especially seeking help in learning to avoid fire. I'm an okay shot, but I'm not good at shaking opponents' aim.

What are some good ways of dealing with spawn campers? They always seem to get the better of me. :|

I'm curious about this, because I'm trying to get better. Practice is the best help (Obviously), but I'm looking for more direct methods.

    Any feedback is appreciated! :-)
  3. Rookie looking to sign on with a clan

    Posted 18 Oct 2009

I'm looking for a clan at the moment.

I'm a rookie, as the topic suggests.

I'd like to be a member of a clan to learn the finer points or UrT, to be able to participate in competitions, and, most of all, to be involved in a group for friendship and community.

The following is a summary of my play style and preferences:
I am a rusher in all but TS, where I'm usually a medic.
I tend to favor AK103 and M4 with either an MP5K or no secondary.
When playing medic, I usually pick both SMGs, but sometimes go with my usual weapons.
While I mostly play TDM, I'm willing to play just about any mode.
I don't like to camp, especially spawncamping, but am willing to if need be.

Next, I have a summary of my ability in-game:
I usually pull around a 1:1 ratio, sometimes more, sometimes less.
I am not good at dealing with campers, but am okay at flanking.
I am not a very good sniper, but am somewhat handy with long-rage M4 kills.

Below I have a summary of my personality, and manner:
I am very willing to learn, and take advice and criticism well.
I am generally friendly, and am fairly polite.
I like to see my team win more than I like to see a high score next to my name.
I take orders well, and try to do what is needed to the best of my ability.

A bit about my location and schedule:
I live in Michigan, USA, but get acceptable pings in Europe when it's not peak use in my area.
I have classes on Monday through Thursday, but have Friday through Sunday mostly free.
On Monday and Wednesday, I'm free from 6:00PM UTC to 12:00AM UTC.
On Tuesday and Thursday, I'm free from 1:00PM UTC to 5:00PM UTC.
On Friday through Sunday I'm free from 4:00PM UTC to 12:00AM UTC.
These times are when I am rested enough to play effectively, but in a pinch I can play between 12:00AM UTC to 4:00AM UTC on any day of the week. I will not be very useful during these times, but will still be able to contribute somewhat.
I may be free at other times due to classes being cancelled or other obligations being removed.
I may not be free at some of those times due to doctor appointments, going out to eat, or other unexpected events.
I will inform my clan of any irregularities in what time I am free, especially any obligations that would intrude into clan events.
When a clan event is nearing, and I am not going to participate, I will be on my clan's IRC channel (If applicable) in case I am needed, for example, if a member has to drop from the event unexpectedly.

Finally, a bit of miscellany about myself:
I only speak English, and don't currently have enough money for language courses or learning software.
I don't play well when lagging (Who does?), but I don't lag terribly often.
I enjoy killing unwary campers, especially those who become complacent in my team's spawn area.
My favorite maps are Uptown, Oil Depot, and Elgin.
I enjoy training using the MP5K, but only when I'm not playing for score.
I'm a furry, but I try to be relatively normal.
I am currently trying to lose weight, and have lost 25 pounds (About 11 + 1/3 Kg) in the past four months.

I would be honored if a clan were willing to take me under their wing.

This is something I've wanted for a while now, and I think I'm finally good enough to benefit from being a member of a clan.
It would be very meaningful for me, and I think I could become quite a contender with some training.

I'd really appreciate any response, especially offers for membership.

    Peace.
  4. Getting Better and Better

    Posted 17 Oct 2009

I had a realization a little while ago: Ratios that I used to consider miracles (3:4, 2:3, etc.) are now typical for me, and are rapidly becoming the stuff of bad days.

Now I'm starting to pull 1:1 ratios (Not great, I know), something I could only dream of just about a week ago.

It's fascinating for me. If I keep going at this rate, in about a month I'll be pulling ratios typical of a person who knows what they're doing.

My scores are interesting, too. A mere couple of weeks ago, I rarely pulled more than 10 frags in TDM. Now I'm regularly getting up towards 30!

I wanted to share this with everyone because... Well, it makes me really happy. I'm starting to become competent, and that's a wonderful feeling.

Here's to progress, practice, and getting better at what we love to do.

    Peace.
  5. Favorite Weapons?

    Posted 11 Oct 2009

I'm curious about this, what's everyone's favorite weapons?

I like the UMP. The AK103's my main of choice (For the damage, quick kills are good for my mediocre aim  ), but the UMP is just plain fun. It does decent damage, it's common (Ammo is plentiful), and it's fairly accurate.

In fact, when I'm medic and using both submachine guns (It's weird for a medic to have an assault rifle, IMO), the UMP is my main.

I like to pull it out now and then. The kill message is funny, too. I picture a person dancing around trying to avoid fire. :-P

My favorite thing to do is stick a laser and silencer on it. That boosts the accuracy up to where I can fare pretty well against assault rifles, and again, I never to seem to run out of UMP ammo, because most people use it.

I think it'd be interesting to know some of this. And please, if there's something cool about why or how you use your favorite weapon, let us know!
