I got an email from ramb about some errors he is having with my latest map. He sent me a condump.

My problem is ive checked all my TGA files and JPG files, and all are RGB. I also dont understand the fmt chunk error for the sounds. They all came out of game sound pack, and are all 22khz mono, which i believe is what they should be for q3.

The dump.

Loading vm file vm/cgame.qvm...
VM file cgame compiled to 1617707 bytes of code
cgame loaded in 34383680 bytes on the hunk
^1ERROR: Couldn't find "fmt" chunk
^1ERROR: Incorrect/unsupported format in "sounds/rabbit/godlike.wav"
^3WARNING: could not find sounds/rabbit/godlike.wav - using default
^1ERROR: Couldn't find "fmt" chunk
^1ERROR: Incorrect/unsupported format in "sounds/rabbit/rampage.wav"
^3WARNING: could not find sounds/rabbit/rampage.wav - using default
^1ERROR: Couldn't find "fmt" chunk
^1ERROR: Incorrect/unsupported format in "sounds/rabbit/wickedsick.wav"

Now for me on linux it works, without any issue on either quake3.i386 or ioUrbanTerror.i386

My Dump using ioUrbanTerror.i386 (whatever the original build was):

VM file cgame compiled to 1617707 bytes of code
cgame loaded in 34383680 bytes on the hunk
^1ERROR: Could not open "sound/misc/windfly.wav"
^3WARNING: could not find sound/misc/windfly.wav - using default

...loaded 2128 faces, 0 meshes, 0 trisurfs, 0 flares
UI menu load time = 9 milli seconds
13 crosshairs parsed
CL_InitCGame: 4.27 seconds
12 msec to draw all images
Com_TouchMemory: 0 msec
G-Jump entered the game
Welcome to Urban Terror 4.0

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

.wav files must be 16bit mono
i use audacity to convert them

and make sure that the images are .jpg not .jpeg ;)

it would most likely be a map conflict just like some maps conflict when you have too many maps in the q3ut4 dir.

I thought the .wav files could be 22, Ill lower mine to 16 too, this will reduce the sound file size by about half?

Would building the map to live in the maps folder help solve conflicts or just cause other conflicts?

I try and avoid using existing files that came with the game, to avoid conflict. Again, does this help avoid or is it more likely to cause conflict?

[edit]; Urban Terror or QIII? My UrT has no sound/rabbit in sound file?
and no sound/misc/windfly.wav
so maybe I missed the point somewhere here...

Hi, sorry about all this fuss. The error was caused by my exceeding the disk quota, I believe.

FTR, and regardless of the disk quota thing there are no conflicts that i know of. I dont use urt assets full stop, and there hasnt been a rabbit map afaik before. My game shaders use a semi random 4 digit prefix. Anything used by the shaders is packaged with the map.

All my images are either TGA or JPG.

22KHz mono is 16bit mono.

Anyways case closed.
