Hey guys this problem seems to be happening quite a lot, ive looked around at several previous posts concerning this matter, and im guessing its either my graphics, monitor or general configuration, ive tryed changed the config file in urban terror, no luck at all, still says mode not supported, i have been onto my nvidia configuration with admin rights and still no luck, my resolution is set at 1280-1024 and i know my monitor can handle it fine so i dont think its my monitor... i only just installed the new ubuntu 9.10 a few days ago so im a newbie lol.
But anyways im running Nvidia geforce fx5200 128mb
and ive installed accelerated graphics driver 173 and all the effects with compiz are running nice and smoothly without errors, but i just dont know what to do next, the only think i think it could be now is my xorg.conf file as in my nvidia configuration i clicked on save current settings to xorg.conf and it failed to write but who knows..
Please help i cant wait to get playing urban terror
Thanks, James

Hey I’m running Ubuntu or some other distribution with compiz and ioquake3 is all screwed up?
Disable Compiz.
Disable Compiz.
or try that out.
r_fullscreen "0" // Fullscreen Or Windowd
check your driver for opengl support.

The Compiz windowed environment could definitely be the issue here..
The graphics driver, although archaic, can handle UrbanTerror. Obscure I think is on to it- try disabling Compiz and let us know what you find out
