I can start the game fine. However, bars shoot up the screen making the game unstable. I joined a server and the same issues arise.

try and go to your exe or your shortcut and right click it, go to properties and then go to compatabillity then tick the boxes of " dissable visual themes" and "dissable desktop composition" then hit apply and see if that helps at all

Issues are still there. I tried running in several compatibility modes as well and it still looks like a bad tv recption. bars etc and not steady.

hmm... what video card do you have?
oh also do you play other games? do they run fine or is it all games? see what the games that come with 7 do, do they fail to run correctly?
also go to your control panel, go to system, then click the "windows experience index" link and run that test and tell us what it gets, if that fails to finish or you get a really low number, eg 1.5, then it could be that the video drivers are messing up or simply that everythign is not installed correctly. if you know a bit about computers and how to fix the drivers you may try to go to the device manager and try to determine if anythign can get newer drivers

It is my laptop. Urt worked fine before 7, now it just sucks. I will check out the index and drivers.

exactly.. it should be a sinple problem of drivers. what is the video card in that thing?
if nvidia i would grab tha new driver set (191.07) , they bring performance up in a bunch of games, surprisingly, and it also got rid of my tearing issues

The index is 4.8 with no issues. Let me go ddl the new drirver and see.

works great now.. Thanks. However, displays at a lower screen resolution and I cannot get it into full screen.

Tried changing resolution in game and now it wont load the game due to open gl issues

does your laptop support 1600 x 1200 ? If not this is your issue. to fix it you can either blow away your config file, or go into the file and manually change the resolution to one your PC supports.
